Savannah, GA: My Travel Guide to a Picture-Perfect Getaway ✨
If you love charming streets, great food, rich history, and a little bit of haunted energy — Savannah, Georgia needs to be on your travel list. I took a trip recently and packed it full of incredible meals, cocktails, local culture, and a few spooky stories. Here’s everything I planned, what I ended up doing, and what I highly recommend for your own Savannah getaway.
Where I Stayed
Eliza Thompson House
📍 5 W Jones St, Savannah, GA
This historic inn is right on Jones Street, which is hands down one of the prettiest streets in the city. The Eliza Thompson House is cozy, elegant, and full of Southern charm. We loved how walkable everything was from here — plus the courtyard and complimentary wine hour felt like the cherry on top.
Where We Ate (And What I’d Recommend!)
🍴 Dinner Spots
The Pirate’s House – A must for the full Savannah experience. It's one of the oldest buildings in Georgia, and between the fun pirate theme and the rum-glazed pork, we were sold.
Circa 1875 – Cozy, moody, and perfect for date night. It’s a French bistro with serious ambiance.
Vic’s on the River – The views! The service! The shrimp and grits! This one checked all the boxes for a special dinner out.
The Olde Pink House – We went for a late lunch, and it still felt like an iconic Savannah moment. It’s elegant but approachable, and the fried chicken is famous for a reason.
🥐 Breakfast & Coffee
Collins Quarter – So cute and absolutely delicious. Great food, too!
Savannah Coffee Roasters – If you love a classic, cozy coffee shop vibe, this is it.
Mirabelle Café – Located right across from the Cathedral. Try the waffles!
Gallery Espresso – An artsy, relaxed spot with strong coffee and people-watching.
Things to Do & See
Prohibition Museum – One of our favorite stops! Super interactive and fun. It dives into the Prohibition Era and ends with a speakeasy-style bar where you can actually order a cocktail. A hidden gem for sure.
True Crime Pub Crawl – We did this tour through downtown and had such a good time. Equal parts spooky and entertaining, plus you get to stop at local bars along the way.
Jones Street – Even just walking around here is an experience. The trees, the houses, the energy — it’s magical.
Forsyth Park – Iconic fountain, Spanish moss, and plenty of space to wander.
River Street – Great for strolling, shopping, and grabbing a drink or ice cream.
Congress Street Up – A 1920s-style bar with killer ambiance (and cocktails).
Alley Cat Lounge – If you love a speakeasy moment, don’t miss this one.
Rooftops – Peregrin and The Grove were our two faves for drinks with a view.
208 Wine Bar & ARCO Lounge – Both super chic, great wine selections, and a good vibe if you're heading out at night.
